The Code keeps the action and suspense going at a good clip, so through it's a bit short on actual character development it is easy to get sucked into the plot.

I would recommend for fans of the 39 Clues or the Korman short adventure series Dive, Kidnapped, etc. Dec 29, Evelynn rated it really liked it Shelves: reviewed , books-i-own , mystery. What I thought before the second read: "From what I can remember of this book, I thought it was a bit confusing. I'd have to read it again to give a specific review because it's been so long, but if my memory serves me correctly, it'll still be two stars the second time around. To tell you all the truth, it had been a long time since I'd read this one, and rereading was a good thing, because this does NOT deserve only two stars.
First of all, the writing is amazing. I love the banter between Evie and Andrew. Second: How did the author think of those amazing codes and clues?!
Spy Software for Cell Phones and Tablets
I never would have! I hate math to begin with, and messing with math to get those codes I'm glad I didn't have to write the book! Third the reason it's only four stars : I would have given it five had it not had the Catch 22 case of: Tell Pop about Mrs. Digitalis and not sneak off to talk with her, or talk with Mrs.
Digitalis because she could be the only way Evie and Andrew could find their mom. I didn't like that aspect. But overall, I loved the story! Now I gotta get my hands on the rest of the series!
It ends on a cliffhanger! May 15, Alissa rated it really liked it.

Such a fun story! It was one of the best-written novel of this length I've ever read. It had excellent description and depth. It was super fast-paced and exciting. The characters each seemed very believable and with their own personality. Most of the story is about the twins as they start to adapt to their new home and school - making new friends, standing up to the bully, and learning the neighborhood. Their father is military and they move around a lot.
The other part of the story is them deal Such a fun story! The other part of the story is them dealing with their mom having left under mysterious circumstances about a year ago. They receive a mysterious package, and have a strange neighbor. There are clues and codes to solve and one part of the mystery is uncovered by the end. That's the only part that's somewhat annoying - so much is still unknown. I'm not a fan of cliffhangers, but this one gave me just enough that I liked the ending, even though it raised more questions than it answered.
The only thing that was concerning as a parent was the "Don't tell your Dad" admonition from the adults in the story.
It makes sense with the spy theme, and I'm sure it will be a major plot point in future novels, but I'm not a fan of kids keeping secrets - especially life and death secrets - from their parents. If I were a child, I would probably rate it 5 stars. Feb 12, Rocio rated it liked it. I was so surprised that I enjoyed this mystery book!
Can't wait to get the second book in the series. What would you do if you got a note from someone? There were these two boys names Andrew and Evie and their mother had vanished on the eleventh day of their birthday.

The book is also a mystery. They can't find their mom. So they spy on their next door neighbor. They soon find out that their next door neighbor worked with Evie and Andrew's mother. They keep getting clues from their mom though. This book is the first of four in its series. I recommend this book for people who like mysterious books with a good case to solve. I'm trying to remember how this engaging mystery that I enjoyed in a single sitting was recommended to me, because even though it's not the most recent title out there it stands up well against newer ones. The balance of action and decoding, physical danger and mental puzzling is right on. The character development is a bit secondary to the plot and adventure, but not in any way that I really noticed. Often I'll read the just first book in a series like this to find out what it's like, but I may I'm trying to remember how this engaging mystery that I enjoyed in a single sitting was recommended to me, because even though it's not the most recent title out there it stands up well against newer ones.
